Some BWCA facts...
Solitude and scenery are both abundant in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
- The BWCA was established by Congress in 1978 to preserve the solitude and primitive character of this 1,000,000+ acre Minnesota wilderness.
- There are over 2,000 campsites, and more than 1,200 canoe routes in the BWCA.
- The more than 1,000 clear water lakes in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area are a fisherman’s dream — home to walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and lake trout.
