To travel the waterways of the BWCAW (Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness) and the Quetico Park you will need to obtain a travel permit. We will be happy to help you select the entry point that will best suit your travel needs. It is best to plan early to get the entry point that you wish.

The permits are set up to allow a certain number of parties to enter a specific entry point on a certain date, to alleviate from overcrowding.

BWCAW Permits: $12 for a group of up to 9 people. There is also a user fee charge for any persons camping overnight in the Boundary Waters, $16 for adults and $8 for youth (17 and under). The permit fee is non refundable if you need to cancel or change dates.

Group Size: The limit to travel into the BWCAW is 9 people and 4 watercraft at anytime while you are on the water, on portages or at a campsite. This is set up to have less impact on the land and other visitors. You are more likely to see wildlife and have some enjoyable camping experiences in smaller groups. If your party is larger than 9 people you will need to obtain additional travel permits.

Quetico Park Permits: When reserving the permit you will be charged a $12 reservation fee along with a $100 deposit for reserving the permit, when you pick up your permit at the Cache Bay Ranger Station this amount will be applied to your camping fees. Camping fees for ages 6 - 17 are $7.90 (Canadian Funds) per night and $19.80 (Canadian Funds) per night for ages 18 and older.

Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC): If you are going to be paddling into the Quetico Park these need to be taken care of 4 to 6 weeks prior to your arrival date. For current RABC application visit
