A horseback ride is a great way to explore the area around our lodge on Gunflint Lake.

You and your family are invited to enjoy all the activities around our lodge on Gunflint Lake, including all the nature programs, while roughing it a bit around the edges by staying in one of our canoer cabins. Your beds will be made up before your arrival along with daily towel service. All your meals are in the lodge Bistro or Justine’s Fine Dining. Depending on your preferences and the ages of your children, they are welcome to eat in the Bistro while mom and dad eat in Justine’s. The naturalists usually offer 4 to 5 activities every day that range from woods hikes to boat or canoe trips to wildlife searches, etc. On top of all that you also have a boat and motor every day and a 1 hour horseback ride (every day if you choose).

Includes: 4 nights accommodations in a canoer cabin with linens, meals at the lodge, boat, motor, canoes, kayaks, the entire nature program, and a 1 hour horseback ride per person per day. Horseback riders must be a minimum of 7 years old and not over 240 lbs.

Over 200,000 people visit the BWCA each year to experience pristine areas such as this.

The best weather for a visit to the BWCA is in the beginning of June and the last two weeks of August — early June has great fishing and in August wildflowers and berries abound.
Over 200,000 people visit the BWCA yearly but the vastness of the wilderness area means that you may encounter only a handful of people.
In the 1920s and 1930s roads made the BWCA more accessible and the resort industry grew rapidly.
